Le groupe Bovet - Élégance pour l'homme actuel

The company goes back to 1907 when Victor Bovet opened a small store of work wear on Ontario Street in Montreal. In 1930, the founder’s son, Marc Bovet, takes charge of the business and expands the store. Then, around the ‘50’s, he decides to have clothes manufactured for a few big size customers. At that time, the specialty of dressing big and tall men started and has made the renown of Bovet until now.

In 1952, he begins to publish a bi-annual catalogue for that specialty business which will be mailed during more than 25 years in Quebec and to the rest of Canada. In 1959, Bovet joins the new trend of shopping centers and opens a store in the Rockland Centre of Town of Mount Royal. More openings will follow in the ‘60’s and the ‘70’s.

In 1972, Marc’s son, Pierre Bovet, joins the business and inaugurate the new main store on Metropolitain Boulevard in Montreal in 1973. Bovet then becomes the largest store for men of all sizes in Quebec.

As the following decades go by, several stores are opened in Quebec regional shopping centers. In 1984, Bovet acquires the Sauvé Frères stores. The banner is modified to keep the Sauvé name only and many stores are converted into Bovet stores in the ‘90’s.

Today, there are 11 stores in the greater Montreal area and Quebec City, offering the largest selection of menswear for short, regular, big and tall men.
